About AAK

The Aquacultural Association of Kenya (AAK) is the National umbrella body of all fish farmers in Kenya. The association was started in the year 2007 and registered in year 2008 under section 10 of the Societies Act laws of Kenya. It is a non- political, non- religious membership association that aims at articulating issues affecting its members and the aquaculture industry at large.

The organisation was formed to bring together all fish farmers in Kenya with the sole purpose of providing them with one voice on common issues affecting them. The organisation would hence provide the farmers with a platform where they would discuss amongst themselves and with other stakeholders regarding the various issues affecting them. The platform would also give leeway to linkages between farmers, the government and other development partners.

The association aims to empower aquaculture farmers economically, with the main focus being on increasing income, improving healthy living and creating jobs. It also aims at enhancing its role in the agricultural sector through increased food security and networking fish farmers, in terms of marketing and research.
